What are micronutrients and why do we need them?
Micronutrients - Metabolically relevant vital substances are substances that our body absolutely needs to ensure its metabolism in the organism. Quite simply, they are the software programs of our body. Without them, illnesses and imbalances in our body occur. What would our laptops and smartphones be without software? They wouldn't work, just as your body doesn't work without micronutrients. What micronutrients are there:
- Vitamins
- Minerals
- Trace elements
- Secondary plant substances
- Amino acids
- Enzymes
Contemporary factors of micronutrient deficiency:
- Food from monocultures, depleted and micronutrient-poor soils.
- Hybrid varieties, i.e. foods that are bred for a particular appearance, a special taste and a high yield.
- Pesticides, they disrupt the metabolism of the food to absorb micronutrients from the soil.
- Harvesting at the wrong time or too early. All foods that are harvested too early or at the wrong time have major deficiencies in their micronutrient balance.
- Medications. They can change the intestinal environment, disrupting the absorption of nutrients. Furthermore, the aggressive intervention of medications in the metabolism in order to reach the site of action is a factor that causes a severe loss of nutrients in the cells.
Due to all these factors, our lettuce and cucumber from the supermarket have exactly as many micronutrients as a tissue!
